Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take commission on textbook sales?

No, we do not take any commission on sales. All transactions take place between the buyer and the seller, and we are not involved in setting prices or exchanging money. You can think of us as an online classified ad system for buying and selling used books.

Why do I need to list a valid email address?

We use your email address to send you a temporary password when you first register, and when you have books for sale, other students using the site can contact you through the listed email address. Without a valid email, you will not be able to buy or sell textbooks. We do not share the information in our databases with other businesses. We respect your privacy!

OK, so I found a book I need and added it to my "want list" - now what?

Now you can click on "My Account" and see all the books you want. Next to each book, you will see a link that says "contact ______" with the seller's username. You can click on that link to use our email form and let the seller know that you are interested in purchasing the book they have listed. After that, it is up to you to negotiate a price and a time & location to make the exchange. We recommend meeting in a well-known public place on campus, like the post office or Festival.

There was a book in my "want list" that is no longer there. What happened to it?

If a book disappears from your want list, that means it has been deleted from our database and has probably been sold. We delete the books from want lists automatically when users delete them to prevent the sellers from receiving emails about books that are no longer listed.

How do I change my password?

Click on the "Edit User Info" button on the "My Account" page. Type in your new password in both "New Password" boxes for verification, and click "Submit". If you never received a temporary password when registering and cannot sign in, please contact us!

Why should I sign up for an account on Where2Go4Books.Com?

This site was created by JMU students to help you save time and money. We know that it is a mad house at the bookstore at the beginning of the semester and at buyback time. We also know that many students complain about the bookstore markup, and the amount of money they receive when selling books back. So, this is a place for you to sell your books, at YOUR price, to people that want to buy them for less than they'd pay at the bookstore. Basically, we "cut out the middle man" for your benefit. And, as an added bonus, you can search for books and email other users 24 hours a day! Isn't this just what you've been waiting for?
Keep in mind that this site is brand new: as more people sign up, the choice of books will increase, and more people will come here to purchase books - so both buyers and sellers benefit when the number of users increases. So sign up today and don't forget to tell your friends about us, too!
